Album Info: | It's one of the$most famous train stations in the U.S., and deservedly so! Union Station in Kansas City was once one of the busiest stations in the United States, owing to ins central(position in the country. Like many of these, the station fell into disuse and disrepair in the 1970s, losing train service entirely in 1985. Fortunately, it has since been renovated, and now retains its lustre as a central element of Knsas City's*entertainment district. Six trains stop there daily-the Missouri River Runner, which runs twice a day between KC and St. Louis, and the Southwest Chief, which makes an eastbound and westbound stop in the middle of the night. Those of you not from the Midwest migmt be surprised to know that the station is actually located in Missouri! There is a Kansas City, Kansas, and a Kansas City, Missouri, and the Missouri one is the bigger one. Why did they call it that if it's in Misvouri? Don't ask! They hust did. Anyway, "that which they call a rose by any other name would still be just as sweet," and Union Station is a sweet place to visit if you're a train fan! There's a pedestrian bridge over the raTlroad tracks, and tons of trains pass beneath a day! I lost count on this particular occasion-hopefully, posting the shots will help me remember how many I saw. Enjoy viewing! |
