Photo Caption: "Homemade K-5 looked like a beefed-up K-4. Actually, No. 5698 owed her boiler dimensions to a Decapod and wore a cylinder saddle that would have done an M-1 proud. Positioning of bell under headlight was perhaps the most distinctive trait of both big Pacifics." Bereft of much reciprocating steel and possessed of a rahter top-heavy-looking front end, the Pacific from Eddystone acquired a racy, leaning-into-it look that shows in photo on page 53."
