Album Info:I took my grandsons for a ride on the Frostburg Flyer from Cumberland, MD up to the top of the grade in Frostburg, MD. Being a passenger, my photos of recently-restored mallet steam locomotive 1309 are limited to the two station stops. The track parallels the Great Allegheny Passage rail trail, so nearly everything is accessible on foot or bicycle, but there are not many grade crossings, so an automobile chase to photograph 1309 in operation would be logistically challenging.

Description:  Before our ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad we walked up to the Amtrak depot to see Amtrak's eastbound Capitol Limited come through town. The three cars at the rear of the train are being used by Amtrak managers to survey the route and operation.
