PRR 7002, E-7SA, 1949 |
Description: |
Here are two letters to the editor which were published originally in the October 1949 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 54. Taken together, they delineate both the fate of speedster E-2 #2007 and how E-2A #8063 was transformed into an ersatz #2007. Top Photo: Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8063, an E-2A (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata during 1902, rebuilt as an E-7SA in October of 1918, withdrawn from service in August of 1939, renumbered "7002" in June of 1949, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. |
