Description:  Volkmer. Here is a duplicate 35m color slide of a photo by William D. Volkmer that was taken in East Conemaugh, Pennsylvania, on 14 March 1959. Prominent here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7121 and another "Geep" whose road number is not recorded. Both are EFS-17M road switchers built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7121 was constructed in June of 1957. In this context, they're passing through the Conemaugh Yard with a mixed-cargo freight train. The Conemaugh Valley was devastated during the "Great Johnstown Flood" which occurred on Friday, 31 May 1889.

Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7132 and two more "Geeps" whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7132 was built in June of 1957.

Description:  8th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 14 February 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7195, #7135, and #2308. All were built by EMD. #7195 and #7135 are EFS-17M's built in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #2308 is an EF-25 built in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are about to pass under the 8th Street Bridge with a 50-car autorack train destined for Enola and points East with caboose #477633.
