Frisco caboose #1421, part of the local/branchline fleet numbered 1400-1442, was built by Frisco from boxcar conversion at Springfield, MO company shop, |
Description: |
Frisco MP15DC #363 was built March 1975 and later became Burlington Northern 4002, then BNSF 3702. The former Illinois Central Winfield to Brilliant, AL 8 mile branch sits a few hundred feet to the east. Coal mines at Brilliant supplied the Illinois Central with fuel for its steam engines. Later, the coal mines supplied the Frisco Railroad with coal loads to generate a good source of revenue. The branch was abandoned several years after this photo. |
