Burlington Northern Railroad SD9 6200 at Cicero, Illinois on July 24, 1987, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in September 1957 as CB&Q SD9s 453 (c/n 23632) on EMD Order 5549, it became BN 6200 and was retired in March 1991. So, what do you think the purpose of the doors on the second floor of the brick building serve? An answer comes from Hol Wagner as follows: I would presume the 2nd floor doors in the yard office are for large office equipment (probably computers back in the 1960s) that were delivered/removed using a forklift. We had a similar pair of doors on the alley side of the building where I worked, for just that purpose. |
