We watched some visiting children playing on the once proud Denver & Rio Grande 2-8-0 ten wheeler #583. The locomotive was originally built by Baldwin Locomotive Works as D&RG 583 (Class 113) in September 1890. In 1962, the Colorado Railroad Museum acquired the locomotive and restored it to its original D&RG 583 appearance. |
