BDRV 8142 is seen at NS/BR&W interchange next to the CNJ era crossing sign. The interchange was put in at this point in the 1970s, near the end of the CNJ, so as to avoid having to cross an old, dangerous bridge near Neshanic on the CNJ South Branch. CNJ assigned a locomotive to this segment of the line to work industry in the Flemington area before the BR&W took over operations in 1976. The last CNJ unit to work this line, RS-3 1554, went to the Black River along with the line. Today the South Branch east of here has been abandoned. |
