Did NERR Repaint it in LMX colors? or atleast touch it up? It got patched twice and now it looks like original.

The "8573" is actually the former LMX 8572. When it was placed in service on the NERR, there was a U30B with the number 5372. Since the two "72's" would be working in the same yard at times, and since the crews use the last two digits to communicate during switching moves, management felt it would be in the interest of safety to renumber the 8572 to 8573. The problem, they didn't put NERR reporting marks on it, so it looks like LMX 8573.

The paint looks so good because LMX 8572 was wrecked and repaired after being involved in a runaway that came down the hill into SOO's St. Paul Yard in 1996.
