She was in a park at "home" for 50 years. During that time, it lost its bell, whistle, and valves in the cab; was beaten by Florida hurricane after Florida hurricane, essentially abandoned, had its tender tank so filled with holes so that it will never be usable again, had the smokebox rusted out so that it will also be unusable, had its driving wheels stuck so that they will not turn, and at the end was nearly scrapped. All because during the 50+ years there, nobody did anything to take care of it. There were 50 years of opportunities to take care of it (since its so loved). It was essentially abandoned during that time-not even under a roof! During its short time in North Carolina, it has been put under a roof, protected, cleaned, and is in the middle of a cosmetic restoration which will make it look better than it has since it started working for the Virginia-Carolina Chemical Company. Now tell me again why it should go back to Florida?
