View looks west down the NKCR right-of-way at Dickens, NE. This is a former CB&Q line from Holdrege, NE to Sterling, CO. The 104 milepost is the distance from Holdrege. The town is named for the English author Charles Dickens, and was accidentally bombed by an Army Air Corps B-24 during a training flight in 1943, causing minor damage but no casualties.
