Mid-Mountain. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-June of 1966. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engine #9687 and four other "F" units whose numbers were not recorded. All were built by EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9687 is an EH-15 built in 1949. They are pulling an eastbound coal train down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. Wave to the engineer! |
