PRR 4882, GG-1, 1962
Electrified. Here is an original photo that I took in Washington, DC, on 20 June 1962. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4882, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric built in Juniata during February of 1939, rated at 4,620 horsepower, and presently on display at the National New York Central Museum in Elkhart, Indiana. It's just arrived in Washington's Union Station with a passenger train from New York City. This is the locomotive that pulled our train from Wilmington to Washington.
