Built by either International Car Company in Kent, Ohio or the Wabash shops in Decatur, IL, this Wabash caboose has the slanting cupola windows which were prone to leaking according to some sources. Beginning with #2830 in 1951, a heavier aluminum framed rectangular window was used. This Wabash caboose was fortunate enough eventually to end up on display in downtown Moberly, MO, the Wabash division point and probably second only to Decatur, IL, as an important Wabash hub. It is next to the former Railway Express building and railroad museum. Unknown photographer |
