Here is page eight of a ten-page article by David P. Morgan entitled "The Lima Story:1 ~ Super Power." It was published originally in the January 1952 issue of "Trains & Travel" magazine, page 19. Center Photo Caption: "The box-cab electric 2-8-2 in the center is Pennsylvania number 5940, one of 30 such motors for which Lima built the cabs and running gear. General Electric was to have completed the locomotives, but all were scrapped before seeing any service." Engine #5940 is an L-6A (1-D-1) built by Lima-Westinghouse as number "5940" in May of 1934, rated at 2,500 horsepower, renumbered "4791" in November of 1966, and retired in April of 1968 after 34 years of faithful service. |
