Conrail GG1 #4860 and a sister GG1 sit in the scrap line at the Harrisburg, PA, yard. Built in December of 1937 by PRR Altoona shops and GE, it served the Pennsy as well as Penn Central and Conrail before dismissed from service in May of 1979. Conrail conductor Ken Taylor documented this scrap line nearly 3 years after its retirement. |
