Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) SE-3 class 0-8-0 858 was on the Southern Railway at TERMINAL JUNCTION in New Orleans. It was on a transfer run from the Espee’s AVONDALE YARD to the Southern’s OLIVER YARD and back. The locomotive had been built at the railroad’s HOUSTON SHOPS in May 1931 as the 183, was renumbered second 858 on 16 September 1950 and scrapped on 31 August 1956. The building in the background was built in 1898 as the Drainage Commission of New Orleans (DCNO) CENTRAL POWER STATION. (approximate date of photo) |
