Portraits 4. Here is a steam locomotive portrait via Arthur B. Johnson that was taken in Morris Park, New York, on 1 June 1948. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3740, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1920 and retired in February of 1956 after 36 years of faithful service. In this context, it's workin' on the Long Island Rail Road. Note the "third rail" for LIRR electrified operations. (#28 of 40) |
