Here is a post card via Peter Outerbridge entitled "Reuben Wells." Caption On Reverse: "'Reuben Wells.' Pennsylvania Railroad's 'Reuben Wells', a locomotive of rather odd proportions, built for the steep grades of the Madison Plane, now a museum piece, is being moved on a flat car [#475716]." Shown here is the PRR's 0-10-0T steam locomotive named "Reuben Wells." It was built by the Madison & Indiana Railroad during 1868, specifically for use on its 5.89% upgrade between Madison and North Madison, Indiana. It's named after its designer, Mr. Reuben Wells. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded. |
