PC 4902, GG-1, 1969
Title:  PC 4902, GG-1, 1969
Description:  Byerly. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Allan Roberts that was taken at Sunnyside Yard in Long Island City, New York, on 4 July 1969. Photo Caption: "Penn Central GG-1's, Sunnyside, L.I., N.Y., 1969." Pictured here are four identifiable Penn Central locomotives, all of which are GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electrics built in Juniata and rated at 4,620 horsepower each. On the left is #4902, built in May of 1940; it's all decked-out for the celebration of "American Railroads 1869-1969." Next over is #4892, built in March of 1940. Then there's #4909, built in December of 1941. And on the right is #4921, built in July of 1942. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Electric Railroading ~ Penn Central and Pennsylvania Lines" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (868-25).
