A line of Conrail GG1's
Title:  A line of Conrail GG1's
Description:  Beautiful action shot of four Conrail GG1's heading up a line of freight cars with CR #4867 taking the point. This was just a couple years before a lot of the GG1's were retired. Once the sleek symbol of Pennsy passenger speed, the GG1's later were relegated to freight duties. A note on the back of the photo by photographer D. Woodland states "Symbol freight PGPI. 10 am westbound."

CR GG1 #4937
Title:  CR GG1 #4937
Description:  A sad moment in the life of this powerful, sleek locomotive - whitelined in the scrap siding at Altoona, PA. Built by the PRR Altoona shops and Westinghouse in April of 1943, this would be the 2nd to the last one ever built. It served the PRR, PC and Conrail rosters until retirement in 1979. However, according to Joe Roger's album in RRPA, this loco somehow ended up at Cooperstown Junction, NY. A plaque that Joe Rogers photographed in 2006 there states "2000 In Memory of Robert E. Anderson, The GG1 Rehabilitation Society" Unfortunately, this was not PRR GG1 #4937 that made it to Cooperstown Junction - it was scrapped after retirement. According to online sources, the Cooperstown Junction GG1 is PRR 4917 (ex-AMTK 4934). Does anyone know if it's still there? No photographer was identified for this photo.

CR GG1 #4937
Title:  CR GG1 #4937
Description:  Here is another view of the once mighty GG1 as it sits whitelined in the Altoona scrap line. The photo was taken by an unknown photographer. According to a more recent album on RRPA by Joe Rogers, this loco ended up at Cooperstown Junction, NY, with a plaque that Joe Rogers photographed stating "2000 In Memory of Robert E. Anderson, The GG1 Rehabilitation Society". But from the pics that Joe posted, it sure doesn't look like the society was able to rehabilitate #4937. Does anyone know of the current disposition of this loco?

CR GG1 #4850
Title:  CR GG1 #4850
Description:  A very moody photo of a line of GG1's sitting just outside the Harrisburg, PA, station, probably the beginning of the scrap line that would start with the change-over in the power grid that sidelined most of the GG1's. The date for this photo is approximate. The loco was built by the PRR Altoona shops and Westinghouse in May of 1935 and served not only the Pennsy but Penn Central and eventually Conrail. It was formally retired in February of 1980. An unknown photographer took this photo.
